BRIEF DESCRIPTION  
 
This contest is open to all college students currently residing in Metro Manila, ages eighteen (18) to twenty- three (23) years old.The twelve (12) individual finalists, will be featured in Chalk PH’s website: chalk.ph.All finalists will be present during campus tours to promote the campaign along with its headline brand partners.The five (5) grand winners of the BYM 2019 will be contracted with Chalk PH for one (1) year and will become on-cam talents of the website. The winners will have videos and articles exclusively for them.

WHO CAN JOIN
 
  1. Contest is open to all male and female Filipino citizens aged eighteen (18) to twenty-three (23) years old, currently residing in Metro Manila.
  2. Participants may be enrolled in an undergraduate program in a college or university or may be employed in any company or business.
HOW TO JOIN
  
  1. A person may either (1) nominate another individual to be a participant in the promotions; or (2)personally apply to become a participant.
  2. To send applications or nominations, the person nominating or applying must go to the Bright Young Manila website (https://chalkbym.abs-cbn.com). Once on the application page, applicant must either select “Apply” or “Nominate” starting March 30, 2019 7:00 AM based on Creative Programs Inc.’s official time. It will automatically redirect him/her to the registration page.
  3. In the registration page, the person nominating or applying must fill in the following registration fields:
    1. Full Name of nominee/applicant
    2. Age of nominee/applicant
    3. School / Company of nominee/applicant
    4. Year & Course / Occupation of nominee/applicant
    5. Email Address of nominee/applicant
    6. Contact Number/s of nominee/applicant
    7. Current Home Address of nominee/applicant (City only)
    8. Social media accounts of nominee/applicant (Required: Facebook, Instagram / Optional: Twitter, YouTube)
    9. Hobbies and Talents of nominee/applicant (Must not exceed 300 characters)
    10. Photo of nominee/applicant
    11. 1-minute video answering the question: What is your advocacy and why? (Only for applicant, not needed for nominating)

    Photo must be less than 1MB and in .jpg format. Video must be maximum of 50MB in file size, maximum of 720px in resolution, and must be in .mp4 or .mov format. The applicant/participant is encouraged to be creative in making the video. S/he must post credits and must use copyright-free music.
    If the person is nominating another person, he/she must answer the following:
    1. Full Name of the person nominating
    2. Contact Number
    3. Email address
  4. If nominating another individual, the person must upload the photo of his/her nominee (no need to submit a video of the nomiee) and if applying to be a participant, the person must upload his/her own photo and video. Photo must be less than 1MB and in .jpg format. Nominations or applications with the following shall be invalidated:
    1. Photos which feature a different person who is not the nominee or applicant;
    2. Inappropriate/offensive photos (such as but not limited to nudity, graphic violence, bullying, spam); and
    3. Photos that show people other than the nominee or applicant
    4. Social media accounts that do not belong to the nominee or applicant
  5. The person nominating or applying must tick the box beside “I have read and understood the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. The person nominating has to check the additional tick box beside “This is to certify the informed consent between the nominee and nominator for Chalk BYM 2019”.
  6. The person nominating or applying must click the “SUBMIT” button to submit the entry.
  7. Applicants, nominators, and the nominees shall receive an email from Chalk.PH within twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) hours with the following information:
    1. For applicant, notification that his/her application is valid or invalid;
    2. For nominator, notification that his/her nomination is valid or invalid;
    3. For nominee, notification that he/she has been nominated and that he/she must reply to the e-mail and confirm whether he/she accepts or declines the nomination within forty-eight (48) hours from the date of the e-mail notification;
    4. For applicant or nominee, notification that CPI and Chalk.PH may, at its sole option and as it may deem necessary, send follow requests to the applicant or nominee on social media using the official Chalk.PH accounts to aid in the evaluation purposes.
  8. A person can only apply as a participant once but can nominate other people more than once.
  9. A person with an invalid nomination or application may still submit a new nomination or application subject to the promo mechanics and requirements.
  10. Nominations and applications must be submitted on or before May 31, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. based on Creative Programs Inc.’s official time.
  11. More nominations of an individual who has already been nominated shall be disregarded.

DISQUALIFICATION GROUNDS FOR APPLICATIONS AND NOMINATIONS
 
  1. Nominees and applicants who do not meet the promo requirements for joining (as stated in Section 7 hereof) shall be disqualified.
  2. Nominations and applications submitted beyond the deadline which is on May 31, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. based on Creative Programs Inc.’s official time shall not be considered.
  3. Nominations and applications which do not have the complete contact information of the nominee/applicant as stated below shall be disqualified:
    1. Full Name of nominee/applicant
    2. Age of nominee/applicant
    3. School / Company of nominee/applicant
    4. Year & Course / Occupation of nominee/applicant
    5. Email Address of nominee/applicant
    6. Contact Number/s of nominee/applicant
    7. Current Home Address of nominee/applicant (City only)
    8. Social media accounts of nominee/applicant (Required: Facebook, Instagram / Optional: Twitter, YouTube)
    9. Hobbies and Talents of nominee/applicant
    10. Photo of nominee/applicant
    11. 1-minute video answering the question: What is your advocacy and why? (For application only, not nomination)
    12. Non-agreement to the promo mechanics
  4. Nominations and applications which do not have the complete contact information of the person nominating as stated below shall be disqualified:
    1. Full Name of the person nominating
    2. Contact Number
    3. Email address
  5. Nominees who fail to accept the nomination by June 3, 2019.
  6. Applicants or nominees who fail to respond to Chalk.PH’s email notification for follow requests by June 3, 2019.
  7. Employees, contractuals, talents, and their relatives up to the second degree of affinity or consanguinity of the following are disqualified from joining the contest:
    1. Creative Programs Inc. and its affiliates, including interactive service provider, ABS-CBN Digital Media Division (DMD);
    2. Sponsors of the promotion as indicated in Section 5;
    3. Persons reporting regularly to the promoter, sponsor, or advertiser under a contract of service and who, by the nature of the service they render may have a direct and personal knowledge of this promotion are likewise disqualified.
  8. Non-agreement or expressed unwillingness of nominee to participate in  the campaign will result to his/her disqualification.
 

DETERMINATION AND NOTIFICATION OF FINALISTS

 
  1. The panel of judges to determine the twelve (12) finalists of Bright Young Manila 2019 are the following Editorial members of Chalk PH:
    1. Jacque Sue Ignacio – Brand Manager
    2. Madel Asuncion – Senior Content Editor
    3. Margarita Catalan – Marketing & Events Head
  2. On June 7, 2019, 3:00 P.M. Chalk.PH’s Editorial team members will select six (6) boys and six (6) girls based on the criteria indicated in the next provision from all the nominees and applicants.
  3. Screening criteria to determine the twelve (12) finalists will consist of the following:
    1. 60% Overall Looks & Style – Based on applicant/nominee’s uploaded video and/or social media pictures
    2. 40% Personality—Based on applicant/nominator’s answer to Hobbies and Talents, and the required question (What is your advocacy and why?)
  4. All chosen finalists shall be notified through e-mail and phone call and shall be given seventy-two (72) hour to decide if they want to move on to the next phase of the campaign. Chosen finalists who shall decline to participate or fail to reply within the period shall be deemed to have forfeited their slot as a finalist and will not be able to proceed in the campaign. Thereafter, CPI shall replace them by choosing from the five (5) back-up finalists in accordance with the next section.
  5. The judges shall choose five (5) back-up finalists in case any of the finalists does not confirm within the given period and/or the finalist declines to be a participant. They will be chosen at the same time as the twelve (12) finalists. The back-up finalist will be notified through e-mail or phone call if a finalist declined to participate in the campaign, or after the seventy-two (72) hour period allotted for any of twelve (12) finalists has lapsed and a semi- finalist has failed to reply within the said period.
  6. The chosen back-up finalist shall be given seventy-two (72) hours from the time of notification to confirm acceptance to be part of the Chalk Bright Young Manila finalists.
  7. The determination of the finalists by the Chalk.PH Editorial team, in the presence of a DTI representative will be on June 7 2019, 3:00 P.M. at Creative Programs Inc. office, 8/F Eugenio Lopez Jr. Communications Center, Mother Ignacia St. Brgy South Triangle, Quezon City.
  8. The time period between June 7, 2019 and start of voting (July 23, 2019) will be used by the Chalk team to create materials for the finalists’ voting pages (photo shoots, video shoots etc.)
 
 

HOW TO VOTE

 
  1. The pictures, videos, and names of the finalists will be available on http://chalkbym.abs-cbn.com wherein the public may cast their votes.
  2. Voting will be done online through Chalk’s BYM website
  3. Voter must log on to http://chalkbym.abs-cbn.com ;
  4. Voter will be asked to log in using his/her Kapamilya account;

  5. Voter must choose the “THE MOVERS & SHAKERS” category and click on the “vote” button assigned to the photo of the finalists he/she wants to vote for;

  6. One vote will be equal to one point;
  7. A person can vote 4x per day.
  8. A person can vote for more than one finalist per day subject to the limitation above.
  9. Voting will start on July 23, 2019, 12:00 p.m. and will end on October 13, 2019, 11:59 p.m.
  10. Votes which are submitted beyond the deadline for submission which is on October 13, 2019, 11:59 p.m. based on Creative Programs Inc.’s official time shall not be counted.

DETERMINATION OF WINNERS

  1. The following components will be considered in determining winners:
  2. 20% Online Votes
    80% Average scores from the panel of judges
    • 80% (Average scores from the panel of judges) from the scores of the editorial team based on the finalists’ overall performances in the campus tour, participation in the BYM program, appearances on-air, and other Chalk events from July 23, 2019 to November 15, 2019.
    • Participants will be ranked accordingly based on the average of their total scores from all of the judges. The five (5) finalists with the highest scores will be declared the winners.
    • The five (5) winners will be determined on October 21, 2019, 3:00 P.M. with a DTI representative at 8F Eugenio Lopez Jr. Communications Center, Mother Ignacia South Triangle, Quezon City, based on the criteria to be discussed in Section 15b.
    • The five (5) winners will be announced on November 16, 2019 at the Bright Young Manila 2019 Finals Night at 20:20 Bar, 20a La Fuerza Plaza 1, 2241 Don Chino Roces Avenue, Makati and will be given a schedule for cover shoot by the Editorial team.
 

JUDGES AND CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

 
  1. The following are the selected judges to help determine the winners of the campaign:

  2. Criteria for Judging
  3. The following criteria will be used by the judges mentioned in Sec 15(a), and will bear eighty percent (80%) of the individual finalists’ overall scores:
    1. Thirty percent (30%) Overall look and style
      1. Physical appearance
      2. Style and choice of clothing
      3. Confidence in front of the camera
    2. Thirty percent (30%) confidence, talent, and performance
      1. Attracts attention from the audience
      2. Ability to express one’s self and communicate effectively through speaking
      3. Has unique and well-developed skills and/or talents
      4. Has completed the trainings and requirements
    3. Twenty percent (20%) determination to initiate social change
      1. Active involvement in civic projects and organizations
      2. Substance of their passion video output

NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS AND CLAIMING OF PRIZES
 
  1. Out of the twelve (12) finalists who will go on campus tours and other on-air guestings to showcase their personalities and talents, five (5) will be chosen as Chalk.PH’s Bright Young Manila 2019 grand winners, based on the criteria mentioned in Section 15b.
  2. The five (5) grand winners will be determined on October 21, 2019, 3:00 P.M. with a DTI representative at 8F Eugenio Lopez Jr. Communications Center, Mother Ignacia South Triangle, Quezon City.
  3. The five (5) winners will be notified via e-mail and phone call on October 22, 2019 and will be invited to a cover shoot for the announcement video.
  4. The five (5) winners will be announced through the following platforms:
    1. Live announcement during the BYM Finals Party on November 15, 2019
    2. Online announcement in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and website on November 15, 2019.
  5. Each participant shall solely bear all costs and expenses relating to, arising from, or connected with attending the shoots, Chalk Campus Tours, launch party and culminating party including, but not limited to, transportation, meals, beverages, incidental charges and gratuities.
  6. Non-monetary prizes are non-transferable and non-convertible to cash.
  7. The twelve (12) finalists will be Chalk.PH BYM brand ambassadors during the campaign from July 23, 2019 to November 15, 2019 to help increase brand awareness and promote Chalk and its brand partners.
  8. The winners and finalists authorize Creative Programs Inc. to disclose and publish their names, photos and other particulars determined by Creative Programs Inc. to any person/s and in any mode or manner as Creative Programs Inc. may deem appropriate.
 
 

CONTROL MEASURES:

 
  1. A DTI Representative shall check the computer system for receiving votes on Chalk.PH’s microsite on May 16, 2019.  A copy of all nominations and applications received in a program database on a CD/DVD or portable drive shall be sealed in an envelope signed by the DTI Representative for safekeeping of Creative Programs Inc. and for verification of DTI any time.
  2. A DTI Representative shall check the computer system for receiving votes on Chalk.PH’s microsite on May 16, 2019. A copy of all votes received in a program database on a CD/DVD or portable drive shall be sealed in an envelope signed by the DTI Representative for safekeeping of Creative Programs Inc. and for verification of DTI any time.
  3. A list of properties of the computer program (system description) shall be printed and given to the DTI Representative after verification.
  4. The presence of an authorized DTI representative shall be required for the following:
    1. View and approve the system for receiving nominations and applications in February 21, venue will be at the ABS-CBN Digital Media Division Office at 9th floor ELJ Communications Center,Eugenio Lopez Drive corner Mother Ignacia Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City
    2. View and approve the system for receiving votes in May 2019, venue will be at the ABS-CBN Digital Media Division Office at 9th floor ELJ Communications Center, Eugenio Lopez Drive corner Mother Ignacia Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City
    3. Witness the determination of the five (5) individual winners in October 21, 2019 at 3:00 PM; venue will be at the Creative Programs Inc. Office at 8th floor ELJ Communications Center, Eugenio Lopez Drive corner Mother Ignacia Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City
  5. All information sent by the participants to the registration page shall automatically go to the system database upon clicking the submit button.
  6. The database shall contain the following information:
    1. User information about the nominee and applicant
    2. Full Name of nominee/applicant
    3. Age of nominee/applicant
    4. School / Company of nominee/applicant
    5. Year & Course / Occupation of nominee/applicant

  7. Those that do not comply with the required elements will be removed from the database.
  8. There will be one administrative (“Admin”) person from Creative Programs Inc. who will monitor the promo website: https://chalkbym.abs-cbn.com.The Admin will monitor the encoding of entries into a separate online page of the promo (solely for the summarization of entries) every 5:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays (working days only) starting March 30, 2019 until the last day of submission of entries on April 30, 2019.
  9. There will be one administrative (“Admin”) person from Creative Programs Inc. who will monitor the promo website: https://chalkbym.abs-cbn.com.The Admin will monitor the encoding of votes into a separate online page of the promo (solely for the summarization of votes) every 5:00 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays (working days only) starting June 12, 2019 until the last day of voting on October 13, 2019.
  10. When the list of the twelve (12) finalists is final, a page in the Chalk Bright Young Manila 2019 website will present the finalists’ photos plus a vote button.
    1. Voting will start on June 12, 2019, 12:00 p.m. to October 13, 2019, 11:59 p.m. Votes submitted beyond this period shall not be
 
counted. Only four votes per Kapamilya account per day on the BYM website is allowed.
 
 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

 
  1. The applicant, nominee, and nominator, represent and warrant that they have read, understood and agreed to abide by the complete rules and regulations.
  2. Participants agree to participate in Bright Young Manila’s activities for campaign including, but not limited to, photo and video shoots, media partners’ guestings, Chalk Beauty Fair and other trainings, and Chalk Campus Tours.
  3. Participants agree they shall solely bear all costs and expenses relating to, arising from, or connected with attending the shoots, Chalk Campus Tours, launch and culminating party, including, but not limited to, transportation, meals, beverages, incidental charges, and gratuities.
  4. The applicant, nominee, and nominator will retain copyright and ownership of their entries. However by submitting their photos and videos, the applicant, nominee, and nominator hereby agree to grant Creative Programs, Inc., and their affiliates, an exclusive, royalty-free license to use the same within July 23, 2019 to November 15, 2019.
  5. The participants retain the right to publish their photos on their websites, blogs, but not to enter them in any other contest for the period of July 23, 2019 to November 15, 2019 or use them in any way that defames or damages Creative Programs Inc., and their affiliates.
  6. The applicant, nominee, and nominator warrant that he/she is the sole author and owner of the material, copyright thereon and of all rights therein; that there exists no adverse claim to or in the work; that neither the video nor any part thereof is a copy of any other work; that neither the work nor any part thereof infringes upon the copyright or any other rights of any person, firm or corporation anywhere in the world.
  7. Creative Programs Inc., and their affiliates and the sponsors of the promotion shall have the exclusive right to reproduce and circulate the entries submitted, and to use, copy, publish, and distribute the entries submitted for commercial and non- commercial purposes, without having to consult the participant or to provide any compensation therefore, within July 1, 2019 to November 15, 2019.
  8. Creative Programs Inc., and their affiliates and the sponsors of the promotion reserve the right to publish the city address and school or company name of the finalists on the BYM website and all social media properties of Chalk.PH.
  9. Creative Programs Inc., and its affiliates reserve the right to block, remove, or disqualify communications or materials that it determines to be (a) abusive, defamatory, or obscene, (b) fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading, (c) in violation of a copyright, trademark or other intellectual property right of another or (d) violates any law or regulation or (e) offensive or otherwise unacceptable to Creative Programs Inc. and its affiliates at their sole discretion.
  10. Creative Programs Inc., and its affiliates disclaims any liability for failure to receive or acknowledge entries arising from force majeure, including acts of God, fires, floods, wars or other disturbances, labor unrest, or other causes beyond its control.
  11. Creative Programs Inc., and its subsidiaries and affiliates, shall be free from responsibility in case of injury, accident or death by bearer of the prizes.
  12. Creative Programs Inc., and its subsidiaries and affiliates, reserve the right to amend the rules and revise the mechanics with DTI’s approval.
  13. The data collected from the entries will be stored only from the start of nomination/application on March 30, 2019 and up until the announcement of winners on November 15, 2019 in electronic and hardcopy (DVD) formats.
